Christmas through the ages at Avoncroft Museum

Savour the atmosphere of Christmases past at Avoncroft Museum with an exhibition of beautifully decorated historic buildings, running from Tuesday 1st December until Sunday 20th December.

From 1st December, Avoncroft Museum in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire is throwing open its doors to welcome visitors for a glimpse of Christmas traditions through the ages with: “Tis the Season…”.  The historic buildings will be transformed with period decorations and costumed re-enactors going about their daily lives and preparing for the festive season.

There will be re-created scenes from all walks of life, from the well-to-do family in the medieval Town House to a character in the cell block who has indulged in rather too much of the Christmas spirit.

From Thursday until Sunday, there are audiences with Father Christmas for younger visitors (additional £5 charge applies), including craft activities with Mrs Christmas and a gift.  No need to book, just drop in.

Take a break and relax in the Museum’s award-winning Tea Room with delicious drinks, cakes and savouries.  For a special treat, call the Museum a day in advance (Tel 01527 831363) and book one of our festive afternoon teas.

The Museum Shop is full of imaginative gifts for Christmas and you can also buy Museum vouchers, books and locally-produced food and drinks.

Avoncroft is open from 10.30am – 5.00pm, Tuesday 1st until Sunday 20th December (closed on Mondays) and there is late night opening until 8pm on Thursdays.  Admission is £7.70 for adults, £6.60 for seniors and £4.00 for children.
