1940s Trail

Mrs Smith lives in Avoncroft Museum’s Prefab and she wants to make a Woolton Pie for her family. Help her find all the ingredients for the recipe by following this trail round the site. You will be rewarded for your efforts with a fun prize!

 

1940s Weekend

Visit Avoncroft this weekend to be transported back to a 1940s village in rural Worcestershire. See how people lived on the Home Front, experience life in a field hospital and in an army barracks. Watch the soldiers train for battle and see them in action on the battlefield.

 

On Sunday there will be a 1940s Songs of Praise at 2.30pm in Bringsty Mission Church where visitors are encouraged to join in the songs and hymns of the time.

 

 

 

Be an Avoncroft Detective – can you solve the crime?

Numerous bags of gold coins have been stolen from the Counting House! It is your job to become a detective, solve the clues to catch the burglar. Make sure he ends up in the gaol.

 

Follow this fun trail around the Museum and become a great Avoncroft Detective.

 

Robin Hood!

For two days only, Avoncroft Museum has been transformed into Nottingham Forest. Outlaws are hiding in every tree.

 

Major Mustard will tell the rousing story of Robin Hood and his Merry Men. Watch their struggle against the Sheriff of Nottingham and his fearsome ally Guy of Guisborne in this puppet show. Have a go at becoming an archer with the Doverdale Bowmen, test your firing skills in the catapult range then become a knight on the Avoncroft Quintain course. (There is a small extra charge for archery).

 

Medieval Merriment!

Have you ever wondered how people lived in medieval times?

 

Join Eye in the Past, our re-enactment group, for some medieval fun at Avoncroft Museum. See how people in the fifteenth century ate, slept and lived. Try some medieval games, make a medieval clay pot and find out about the weaponry of the time.

 

Avoncroft Village with traditional Country Flower and Produce Show

Walk amongst the buildings and see villagers from all time periods living in the village of Avoncroft this weekend. Play games with the Tudors, bake bread with the Victorians and hide in the Anderson Shelter with a 1940s family. See demonstrations by the Miller and Chainmaker. Watch our Victorian saw mill in action.

 

Having met all the villagers enjoy a visit to the local produce stalls and take a trip round the Flower and Produce Show.

Apple Day

Join us to explore the story of the apple from pollination to consumption. In partnership with the Array Fruit Farm there will be numerous local apples on display; beekeepers; composting advice; cider pressing and local produce stands. Visit the Avoncroft Orchard to see our beautiful apple trees and take part in fun apple themed activities.

 

At 2.30pm there will be a Harvest Thanksgiving and Dedication service in Bringsty Mission Church – all welcome.
