Volunteers Welcome At Avoncroft Museum

Volunteering at Avoncroft

Avoncroft Museum runs as a charity and is assisted in its aims of education and historic conservation by a large team of volunteers.

Our successful volunteering programme has been in place since the Museum was founded in 1964, by a group of dedicated volunteers.

Many of our volunteers have been with the Museum for decades, others for a few months or years.

The Museum's volunteers come from many walks of life, and we welcome all applications to join our community here at Avoncroft.

Volunteers assist the Museum in many ways, from stewarding our furnished buildings and exhibitions during opening hours, talking with the visitors about those buildings. Volunteers also help in more unusual ways during our special events and activities, as well as mucking in with maintenance, conservation and the ever present gardening!

We are always keen to attract new helpers. We offer full training and support, out of pocket expenses and refreshments.

Volunteers at the Museum can also expect to be kept informed of events and developments with a regular newsletter called 'Waffle & Daub', as well as through regular training up dates, social evenings and meetings, and the annual volunteer excursion.

If you are thinking of volunteering, and would like a volunteering application pack, then please contact Rachel Shepherd, the Volunteer Coordinator at Avoncroft Museum.
